New directors without industry networks (ie without the cultural capital) are matched with professional directors, to share understanding of how the industry works. The aim is to create a new wave of directors with experience of working and networking beyond their existing cultural bubble.
2: The Shiny Awards
Representative scouting: Our scouting focuses on new directors from under-represented groups.
Shortlists: All high-scoring videos are shortlisted for the monthly awards. Then selections are made taking into account categories of gender, ethnicity, ability, age & economic upbringing, to better support diverse representation of new talent. Our shortlists are at least 70% under-represented directors - reporting is below.
Entry judges: We research and invite entry judges across categories of gender, ethnicity, ability, age & economic upbringing.
Awards judges: We research and invite guests across categories of gender, ethnicity, ability, age & economic upbringing.
3. Access to other support & activists
We maintain a massive list of groups who make life easier for people who are under-represented in the creative industries.
