Shiny Showcase

5 Mar 2026

Scotland & The North

The Shiny Showcase arrived in Edinburgh on 5 March, bringing together directors, producers and creatives from across Scotland & the North for an evening celebrating bold new filmmaking talent.

Hosted by LS Productions, the showcase featured a curated screening of standout short-form work from emerging directors working across commercials, music videos, documentary, animation and drama.

As with all Shiny events, the programme championed diverse voices, with at least 70% of the work coming from directors from under-represented backgrounds. The evening provided an opportunity for the regional creative community to discover new talent, watch exciting short-form work and connect with directors shaping the future of commercial filmmaking.

Films Screened & Sponsor Prize Selections

The evening featured a curated selection of short-form work from emerging directors across a range of genres including commercials, music videos, spec ads, documentary, drama and animation. All films screened were under five minutes and selected for their originality, craft and creative voice.

All of the films featured in the showcase will now go forward into judging for the Shiny Awards, taking place later this month.

On the night, several directors from the programme were recognised by our partners with prizes and opportunities supporting the next stage of their careers.

"Shiny plays a vital role in our industry by bridging the gap between emerging, diverse talent and the world's leading creatives. At LS, we believe that providing a platform for new voices isn't just a moral responsibility - it’s how we keep the craft of commercial filmmaking innovative and exciting. This platform, along with the Shiny events, are essential and bring a genuine, high-level connection. It’s rare to find a space that brings together emerging talent and industry leaders with such purpose, and we felt that energy at the first Scottish showcase we recently hosted at our Edinburgh office.” -Kojo Abban, Executive Producer, LS Productions

“Being platformed at the Shiny Showcase and having my work screened to an industry audience was such an honour.” - Stuart Armstrong Director

“As someone who has not had much exposure to the world of commercials or opportunities to direct commercial work yet - being part of the Shiny showcase and winning this mentorship session feels really beneficial to my directing career.” - Alia Ghafar Director

“I was so ecstatic about being a part of the Shiny Showcase, and am even more excited to be on the Shiny List. It was the best place to share my film, and I’m already looking forward to the connections and community it brings.” - Kate Hammer Director

“A brilliant night celebrating some of Scotland’s most exciting emerging filmmakers. My only criticism – there were no Tunnock’s Tea Cakes… unless someone ate the last one?” - Iain Simpson Director
