Shiny Awards Terms and Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the ShinyAwards.com website or participating in any Shiny Awards event, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. Shiny Awards Ltd ("Shiny") may update these Terms at any time without notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or attend events.
2. Definitions
Shiny/We/Us: Shiny Awards Ltd, company registration 11037108.
Site: www.shinyawards.com.
User/You: Anyone interacting with the site or attending a Shiny event.
Filmmaker/Director: The creative lead(s) of submitted work.
Partner: Organisations working with Shiny for mutual benefit.
Member: An individual or organisation granted access to Shiny’s member-only resources, communications and benefits, subject to the Membership Terms.
3. Intellectual Property
All Shiny-created content is protected by UK and international copyright laws. Users may only submit or link to content they own or are licensed to use.
4. Entry Requirements
Open globally to individuals 16+.
The director (or lead creatives) will be credited as the award recipient.
Incomplete or late entries are not accepted or refunded.
5. Judging and Awards
Entries are reviewed by industry professionals.
Judging criteria include creativity, technical skill and artistic merit.
Decisions are final; no correspondence will be entered into.
6. Tickets and Events
All attendees must be 18+. Tickets are confirmed only after full payment.
If a named delegate cannot attend, a replacement delegate may be sent. Please inform the organisers in writing of any delegate changes at least 48 hours before the event.
If a delegate is unable to attend, please contact Caroline@shinyawards.com for a refund.
Refunds are offered for cancellations made 30+ days before an event, minus admin fees. No refunds under 30 days.
Substitutions may be made with prior notice.
We may cancel, reschedule or relocate events. In such cases, ticket holders will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.
In the event of cancellation, a full refund for the event ticket will be made.
We reserve the right to change the event programme and/or speakers without notice.
If the date or venue is changed, attendees will be given notice and offered either attendance at the revised event or a credit for a future event of equal value. Credit claims must be made in writing within 14 days of receiving notice.
Shiny is not liable for travel, accommodation, or other expenses resulting from event cancellation, postponement, or relocation.
Shiny is also not responsible for travel or accommodation costs incurred by attendees who fail to attend for any reason.
We are not liable for changes or cancellations due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, industrial action, or pandemics.
7. Behaviour and Safety
Attendees must follow all health, safety and conduct rules. We may eject anyone for disruptive, abusive, or unsafe behaviour.
8. Use of Likeness
By attending an event, you consent to being photographed or filmed and for Shiny to use this content for promotional purposes without compensation.
9. Liability
You confirm that submitted content is original, lawful and appropriately licensed.
Entrants and attendees indemnify Shiny for breaches of these warranties.
We are not responsible for third-party content, technical failures, or losses beyond our control.
10. Website Access
We may suspend the website for maintenance or technical issues without notice.
11. Promotions and Media
By entering, you grant Shiny the right to use submitted content and your likeness for promotion and judging without further payment.
12. Pricing
We reserve the right to change pricing at any time.
13. Partner Disclaimer
Partnerships listed on the website do not imply a legal agency or partnership unless specifically stated.

16.2. Use of Resources
Members must only use Shiny resources for official Shiny activities. Use for self-promotion or external solicitation is prohibited.
16.3. Non-Solicitation, Confidentiality and Use of Director Information
Non-Solicitation:
Member companies agree not to use access to Shiny’s curated list of directors, contact information, or any related materials to solicit, market, or sell their own membership schemes, services, or events that may compete with Shiny, either directly or indirectly.Confidentiality and Use Restrictions:
The directory of directors and associated data provided to members is proprietary, confidential, and shared solely for the purpose of participating in Shiny’s approved events and initiatives. Directors have submitted personal and private information on the strict understanding that it will only be accessible to current Shiny members and used within the scope of Shiny’s activities. Any unauthorised use—including but not limited to reproducing, distributing, or leveraging this information to build competing offerings—is a breach of these Terms.Privacy and Enforcement:
Shiny takes the privacy of its directors seriously and complies with all applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Any unauthorised use or sharing of director data may result in immediate termination of membership and, where appropriate, Shiny will report breaches to the ICO and pursue legal action.Breach and Remedies:
In the event of a breach of these conditions, Shiny reserves the right to terminate membership without notice and may seek legal remedies, including injunctive relief, damages, and regulatory action where appropriate.
16.4. Conduct
Members must foster respectful, inclusive behaviour aligned with Shiny’s DEI values. Breaches may lead to termination.
16.5. Intellectual Property
All content provided by Shiny remains its property and must not be used outside approved contexts.
16.6. Termination
Shiny may terminate membership at any time for actual or probable violation of these Terms.
16.7. Amendments
We may revise these terms. Continued use implies acceptance.
17. Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by English law. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of England and Wales.
